salamanca

Salamanca is located in the autonomous community of Castilla y Leon it is characterized for being a community surrounded by a nature environment. Salamanca is famous for its Spanish Ham.

The principal spots of Salamanca are:

• The cathedral, which is made up by two parts. The old part (older) and the new part.
• The university of Salamanca, one of the oldest universities of the world. Fray Luis de Leon was professor of this university among other intellectual celebrities.
• Plaza Mayor
• Casa de las Conchas, is a very special building because it has shells all around its walls. And now a days is a public library where you can feel like an old student of the Salamanca university.
• Jardín de Calisto y Melibea

The weather is, very cold during the winter period. However, is very hot during the summer period.

Salamanca is surrounded by smaller villages which I recommend visiting before leaving Spain, some of this are:

• La Alberca (south of Salamanca)
• Ciudad Rodrigo
• Bejar

The totality of these places can be easily sawn if you are rapid taking your pictures.

SEGOVIA

Segovia is a world heritage city since 985. It is known for its aqueduct, it was built by
the Romans and they did it to bring water to the city. It has 167 granite stone arches.

Real Street, the most Commercial Street, and leads to the “Plaza Mayor” and the
Cathedral.
In the “Plaza Mayor” is sited the Town Hall and there are also many bars where you
can take an appetizer.
The Cathedral is from the late Gothic style. The main facade is known as the “Door of
forgiveness”. In the interior it has 18 chapels and beautiful stained glass windows.

The house of the “Picos” is famous, as legend says that has a treasure hidden inside.
The main synagogue is in the neighborhood of the Jewish of Segovia, nowadays is the convent of Corpus Christi.
The Alcazar of Segovia, is a fortress on the top of a hill, with amazing gardens.
The gastronomy of Segovia is world famous, for its “cochinillo” (mesón de Cándido),
the “judiones de la Granja”, and don’t forget the famous dessert «ponche Segoviano»
